How to Extract Text from Image (OCR)
Browser-Based OCR Technology
Our image-to-text converter uses Tesseract.js, a WebAssembly port of the world's most popular OCR engine. It runs entirely in your browser with no image upload, no server processing, and no data retention. Simply drag and drop a JPG, PNG, or screenshot, and the engine extracts readable text that you can then clean, redact, or compress with our other tools. The entire pipeline stays on your device for complete privacy.
Tips for Better OCR Results
For best results use high-resolution images at 300 DPI or higher, ensure good contrast between text and background, crop to just the text area removing images and graphics, and straighten any rotated or skewed text before uploading. Handwritten text recognition is limited — the engine works best with printed text, typed documents, and screenshots of digital interfaces. After extraction, run the text through our Clean mode to fix any OCR artifacts.
