Terms of Service

By accessing or using CleanMyPrompt ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Service Description

CleanMyPrompt provides text cleaning, compression, PII redaction, and related tools via:

• Web Application — Client-side processing in your browser at cleanmyprompt.io
• REST API — Server-side endpoints at /api/v1/clean and /api/v1/analyze
• MCP Tool — Machine-callable tool specification for AI agents
• Browser Extension — Chrome extension for in-page text cleaning

2. License & Usage

You are granted a revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal or commercial text optimization, subject to these Terms.

You retain all rights to your input and output content. We claim no ownership over any text you process through the Service.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to process content that is illegal, harmful, or violates third-party rights
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Service beyond what is publicly available
• Circumvent rate limits, abuse API endpoints, or launch denial-of-service attacks
• Use automated tools to scrape or harvest data from the website beyond normal API usage
• Redistribute or resell access to the Service as a standalone product
• Submit content designed to exploit, test, or attack the processing pipeline (e.g., prompt injection against the tool itself)

4. API Terms

The following additional terms apply to REST API and MCP tool usage:

• Rate Limits: The free public API is limited to 30 requests per minute per IP address. Exceeding this limit returns HTTP 429.
• Input Limits: Maximum 100,000 characters per request.
• Data Retention: Text submitted via the API is processed in-memory and immediately discarded. We do not log or retain submitted content.
• Availability: The API is provided on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee uptime or response times.
• Authentication: The public API does not require authentication. We reserve the right to introduce API keys for higher rate limits in the future.

5. Intellectual Property

The CleanMyPrompt name, logo, website design, and proprietary processing algorithms are owned by us. The open-source components of the Service are governed by their respective licenses.

You may link to CleanMyPrompt and reference it in documentation, blog posts, and tools. You may not use our trademarks in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation without written permission.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to:

• Accuracy of PII detection, text cleaning, or token compression
• Correctness of OCR (optical character recognition) output
• Uninterrupted or error-free operation
• Fitness for a particular purpose

You are responsible for verifying all output before using it in production, compliance, or legal contexts.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

• Data loss or corruption
• Loss of profits or business opportunities
• Failure to detect PII or sensitive content
• Token miscalculations or cost estimation errors
• Reliance on Service output for compliance purposes

Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service (for the free tier: zero).

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CleanMyPrompt and its maintainers from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time, without notice, for any reason, including breach of these Terms. Upon termination:

• Your license to use the Service is immediately revoked
• Your browser localStorage data remains on your device (we cannot delete it remotely)
• No server-side data exists to delete

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation before pursuing formal proceedings.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
